The Humanoid Economy by Modar Alaoui, Published by Wiley, Explores the Emerging Economy Behind Physical AI

As humanoid robots move from research labs toward factories, workplaces, and other real-world environments, a new economy is beginning to take shape around Physical AI. The Humanoid Economy: What Physical AI Means for Investment, Industry, and the Future of Work, by Silicon Valley investor and humanoid robotics ecosystem builder Modar Alaoui, examines the forces driving that shift and what it could mean as humanoids move toward commercial scale. The book will be published by Wiley on October 13, 2026.

The book looks beyond individual robots and companies to examine the technology, capital, infrastructure, policy, and human acceptance required for humanoids to reach meaningful commercial scale. It also explores the implications for labor, investment, industrial strategy, and global competition.

“Humanoid robots are now creating new markets, business models, and ways of working,” said Alaoui. “The economic opportunity could extend beyond the mobile and internet economies combined. That scale will come from the capabilities humanoids unlock, the infrastructure built around them, and the labor markets they reshape. Physical AI is becoming more than an industry. It is becoming an economy.”

The Emerging Humanoid Economy

Homes, factories, warehouses, offices, tools, vehicles, and much of the physical world have been designed around the human body. Humanoid robots offer a path toward deploying increasingly capable AI systems within those existing environments. At the same time, advances in computer vision, sensor fusion, artificial intelligence, compute, actuation, and embodied intelligence are converging with labor shortages, demographic change, and growing investment in automation.

The Humanoid Economy examines what happens when these forces come together and what must still happen for humanoids to move from demonstrations and early deployments to commercial scale.

Across seven chapters, Alaoui examines why humanoids are emerging, the infrastructure required around them, how humanoids are built and funded, the importance of cultural acceptance, and the global competition surrounding Physical AI.

The book is intended for investors, business leaders, policymakers, and builders seeking to understand both the opportunities and challenges created by the transition from digital AI to AI that can operate in the physical world.
