Statewide contest continues a 22-year tradition of encouraging Maine teens to spread safe-driving messages, with more than $200,000 in prizes awarded to date
PORTLAND, ME, UNITED STATES, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Law Offices of Joe Bornstein announced today the launch of its 23rd Annual Arrive Alive Creative Contest, inviting graduating high school seniors across Maine to create an original project that sends a message to their peers about the dangers of drunk driving and distracted driving.
The contest is open to graduating seniors at high schools throughout Maine’s 16 counties. Students may enter a creative project in any medium of their choosing. Past winners have included essays, poems, paintings, videos, original songs, public service announcements, T-shirt designs, board games, and drawings.

Building on Last Year’s Success
The 23rd Annual contest follows a strong showing in last year’s 22nd Annual Arrive Alive Creative Contest, which drew winning entries from seniors at high schools across the state, including Falmouth, Freeport, Gorham, Gray-New Gloucester, Lewiston, Oak Hill, Scarborough, Spruce Mountain, Telstar, Westbrook, and Yarmouth high schools.
Winning projects covered a wide range of formats, from paintings and drawings to personal essays and poems, short videos, and even an original apparel design, each built around the contest’s core message to stay safe behind the wheel.
The firm celebrated last year’s top 20 winners at a gathering at Elks Lodge #188 in Portland this past July. As with previous years, first place winners received a new laptop computer, while second and third place winners each received a new iPad.
This Year’s Prizes
First place winners will receive a new laptop computer, and second and third place winners will each receive a new iPad. All graduating seniors who enter the contest receive additional fun prizes from the firm.

Entries must be submitted by Friday, May 7, 2027.
How Can Teens Participate This Year?
Graduating seniors can enter the contest in three ways:
• Online: Students may upload their project directly at www.arrivealivecreativecontest.com. Online entries can be up to 18MB; if a project is larger, students can mail a CD or thumb drive or contact the firm to arrange file sharing. The entry form is built into the online submission process, so a separate form is not required.
• By mail: Entries can be mailed, along with a completed entry form, to: The Law Offices of Joe Bornstein, c/o Arrive Alive Creative Contest, 90 Johnson Road, Portland, ME 04102. Fragile art projects should be packed carefully for shipping.
• In person: Students may drop off their entry, along with a completed entry form, at one of the firm’s seven Maine offices in Sanford, Biddeford, Portland, Windham, Lewiston, Augusta, or Bangor. Anyone dropping off an entry is asked to call ahead to schedule a convenient time.
Format Guidelines
Essays should be no longer than 1,000 words, and videos or songs no longer than five minutes. All artwork must be easily transportable.

By entering, students give the firm permission to use their name, likeness, and submitted materials in advertising and promotion, with certain exceptions outlined in the official contest rules.
