The September 11 event in Hastings, Nebraska, will raise scholarship funds for college athletes from farm and ranch backgrounds.
HASTINGS, NE, UNITED STATES, August 12, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Farm Athletes, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting college athletes who grew up on farms and ranches, will host its inaugural Farm Athletes Golf Classic on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Nebraska.
The four-person scramble will raise money for the Farm Athletes scholarship fund, which provides financial support to college athletes from agricultural backgrounds. One hundred percent of the event’s net proceeds will go toward scholarships.
Farm Athletes was founded by Nebraska farmer and entrepreneur Zach Bosle, founder and CEO of Tractor Tuesday. The organization began in 2024 as an effort to connect college athletes from farm and ranch backgrounds with Name, Image and Likeness opportunities. Twenty NCAA athletes initially joined the program as brand ambassadors.
As Farm Athletes worked with those students and learned more about the financial challenges facing agricultural families, its mission evolved. The organization transitioned from providing NIL opportunities to raising money for scholarships and has since become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
“Farm kids understand hard work because they’ve been doing it their entire lives,” Bosle said. “A lot of these athletes grew up doing chores before school, helping during planting or harvest and then finding a way to get to practice. We started Farm Athletes because we wanted to recognize those farm kids as they progress into young adults. Now we have an opportunity to do something that can make an even bigger difference for them.”
Farm Athletes focuses on an often-overlooked challenge facing students from agricultural families. Farms and ranches may have significant assets tied up in land, equipment and livestock, but those assets do not necessarily translate into disposable income available to pay college tuition.
For student-athletes, that financial pressure can be particularly difficult. Between classes, training, practices, travel and competition, finding time for additional employment can be challenging. Farm Athletes scholarships are designed to help ease that burden and allow recipients to focus on their education and athletic careers.
The inaugural Golf Classic will bring the agricultural community, local businesses and supporters of college athletics together around that mission. The tournament begins with check-in at 8 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. shotgun start, with dinner, awards and a silent auction following play.
Registration is $500 per four-person team, with the field limited to 30 teams. Businesses and individuals can also support the scholarship fund through event sponsorships ranging from $100 hole sponsorships to a $5,000 title sponsorship, as well as donated prizes and auction items.
“We want this to become something the agricultural community looks forward to every year,” Bosle said. “You can come out, play golf and have a great day, but ultimately we’re there for the athletes. Every team, sponsor and donated item helps us put more scholarship dollars behind young people who represent rural America.”
The 1st Annual Farm Athletes Golf Classic will be held Friday, September 11, at Lochland Country Club in Hastings. Team registration and sponsorship opportunities are available at FarmAthletes.com, with registration closing Friday, August 21.
